Abstract: The purpose of the present study was to examine the views of secondary of economists educators/teachers regarding the access system to tertiary education, the role of frontistirio in students’ preparation for panhellenic exams, the level of school preparation for that reason and the factors that influence students’ decision in Greece to attend “frontistirio”. Using a survey of 34 teachers from 75 high schools (“lykeia”) in the two largest cities of Greece (Athens and Thessaloniki) participated in the study. Findings showed that increased chances of entering tertiary education was identified by school economists teachers as the most important reason for students resorting to “frontistirio”. They also acknowledged that the students in third class of lykeio they have a very low interesting on subject of economics.
